Job summary

Ashland University Bookstore is seeking a dependable cleaning staff member to maintain living facilities, dining areas, restrooms, classrooms and offices across campus. You will handle cleansing, replenishment of supplies, trash removal, and floor care, including carpet shampooing and tile burnishing.

Flexibility and reliability are essential as you work as part of a university facilities team. Travel to all campus areas to perform tasks, work in high, low and confined spaces, lift heavy items,

Qualifications

• Traveling to all areas of the University to perform assigned tasks.
• Performing tasks in high, low and confined spaces.
• Lifting boxes, trash, ladders and equipment.
• Utilizing power cleaning equipment such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers and scrubbers.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt and germs.
• Exposure to external temperatures during cleaning and in entryways and around the building.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining living facilities, dining areas, laundry areas, restrooms, shower areas, classrooms and offices.
• Replenishing soap and paper products.
• Removing trash and recycling from buildings while replacing liners in the trash and recycling containers.
• Sweeping, mopping and cleaning floors and stairwells.
• Vacuuming and shampooing carpeted areas.
• Dusting furniture, washing walls and windows.
• Cleaning outside steps and entryways (may include snow removal from entryways).
• Moving heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.
• Burnishing, refinishing and stripping tile and terrazzo flooring.
• Reporting items in need of repair and ordering supplies.
• Performing related or special duties as assigned by a supervisor.
