Job summary

American Furniture Warehouse is seeking a Janitor to maintain a clean show floor and warehouse environment within a fast-paced retail setting. The role emphasizes reliability, attention to detail, and a calm, professional demeanor while upholding safety standards.

Pay starts at $16/hour with additional range and benefits; AFW offers weekly pay, medical/dental/vision, 401k matching, and more as part of its employee perks. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Preferably 2+ years janitorial experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
• Safety training and/or certifications related to janitorial work.
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced team environment.
• Organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Clean restrooms, break rooms, and supply areas.
• Sign off on cleaning logs indicating thorough cleaning.
• Dust, clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Prepare cleaning solutions per specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Follow chemical safety procedures to protect floors and fixtures.
• Monitor safety by locking doors and checking equipment.
• Notify managers regarding major repairs to building systems.
• Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
• Know and use PPE; BBP safety knowledge.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
