Job summary

The City of Weslaco is seeking a Custodian responsible for keeping city facilities clean, orderly, and secure. Duties include cleaning floors, bathrooms, windows, and common areas, stocking supplies, and assisting with set-ups for events.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or GED, 1–3 years of custodial experience, background/drug checks, a valid Class C license, and, if possible, English/Spanish bilingual abilities. The role may require after-hours work and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related custodial/work experience preferred.
• Background check and drug screen required at city's expense.
• Valid Class C Driver's License and insurability.
• Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within 3 months of hire.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of buildings and property.
• Perform routine cleaning duties, including heavy tasks as needed.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ensure quality customer service at all times.
• Respond to emergencies and report incidents to supervisor.
• Set up, move, and arrange furniture or equipment for events.
• Prepare spaces for daily operations and maintain safety standards.
