Job summary

New York State Office of Mental Health is seeking a facilities cleaner to perform cleaning and care tasks in assigned areas under supervision. Duties include removing hazards, moving furniture, washing floors, scrubbing lavatories, and using cleaning equipment.

There are no education or experience requirements; candidates must be physically able for medium to heavy labor and able to follow written or oral instructions. Background checks required; Down State adjustment of $4,150.

Responsibilities

• picking up and removing hazardous articles which may be on floors, furniture, and equipment, and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places;
• moving furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning and care functions;
• using mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning implements to wash floors, corridors, stairs and stairwells, walls, partitions, windows from the inside of the building; using manual and/or mechanical equipment, strips, vacuums and waxes floors and shampoos carpets;
• using hand-operated equipment and detergent to scrub and clean all areas of lavatories; using hand-dusting equipment to dust assigned areas.
