Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyors, ASRS, sortation, scales and printers.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components including motors, drives, belts, chains, bearings, and pulleys.
• Inspect, calibrate, and replace electrical components such as sensors, relays, solenoids, and encoders.
• Conduct routine maintenance on facility equipment including PITs, HVAC systems, air compressors, dryers, and basic plumbing.
• Diagnose low-voltage circuits and electronic components using multimeters and schematics.
• Log work orders in the asset management system, recording labor hours, downtime, root cause, resolution, and parts used.
• Operate PITs and service vehicles to procure parts and supplies.
• Follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash compliance.

Job description

The Facilities Automation Technician I is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated material handling and facility equipment to ensure high availability and operational readiness across the distribution center. Utilizing preventive and predictive maintenance processes, this role rapidly restores equipment to service while collaborating with internal technicians, leadership, and external contractors to execute root cause analyses and safety protocols.

A day in the life as a Facilities Automation Technician I...

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, AutoStore ASRS, sortation systems, scales, and printer applicators.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and AC/DC electrical motors, drives, belts, chains, guides, bearings, rollers, and pulleys.
• Inspect, calibrate, and replace electrical components such as photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, and encoders.
• Conduct routine maintenance on auxiliary facility equipment, including Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), HVAC systems, air compressors and dryers, balers, and basic plumbing systems.
• Diagnose low-voltage circuits and electronic components using multi-meters, infrared thermometers, job plans, and electrical schematics.
• Log work orders in the asset management system via handheld devices, capturing accurate labor hours, downtime, root cause, resolution, and spare parts used.
• Operate Powered Industrial Trucks and service vehicles within the interior, exterior yard, and between local facilities or stores to procure necessary parts and supplies.
• Execute safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash compliance while actively eliminating equipment hazards in accordance with company policy.
