Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, meticulous custodian to join our team at BARK U. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility, primarily in the client-facing areas of the facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, exceptional cleaning skills, and a friendly demeanor to interact with clients and staff.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting all areas of the facility, including restrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Ensuring that all surfaces are free of dirt, debris, and pet hair.
• Manage waste disposal by collecting and removing trash, recycling, and maintaining waste receptacles.
• Monitor and manage stock of cleaning supplies and equipment as well as personal hygiene supplies, and ensure they are used efficiently and replenished as needed.
• Reporting any maintenance or cleanliness issues to the Facility Manager.
• Clean indoor and outdoor back of house spaces, as requested.
• Support Facility Manager with minor tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, repairing leaks, and maintaining fixtures to ensure the facility is safe and functional.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment and to comply with health and safety regulations.
• Provide a courteous and professional presence in the facility, responding to requests and inquiries from staff and visitors as needed.
• Assist in emergency cleaning and maintenance situations, including spills and other urgent issues that may arise.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in janitorial or building maintenance roles preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to perform physical tasks, and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA) and training in safety procedures are a plus.
• Good communication skills to interact effectively with staff and address concerns promptly.
• Comfortable working around dogs of all sizes and breeds.
