Facilities Assistant - Low Barrier Shelter

Job Summary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Facilities Assistant. The Facilities Assistant installs, maintains, and repairs the facility’s building structures and systems, including plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery, construction, equipment, electronics, vehicles, and grounds. Working under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant will be skilled in general maintenance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Work with ticketing system to track, monitor, and prioritize work orders.
  2. Assist with maintenance schedules and repairs.
  3. Design and implement preventative facilities program.
  4. Assist with small repairs to walls, floors, stairs, etc.
  5. Install new equipment.
  6. Recommend purchase of parts and equipment.
  7. Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials.
  8. Assist in routine site safety inspections and preventive maintenance, which may include heating, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing units, equipment, and fixtures.
  9. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 5 years of general maintenance experience.
  3. Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  4. Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  5. Basic HVAC knowledge.
  6. Preventative maintenance and mechanical skills knowledge.
  7. Basic reporting and organization skills.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred

  1. HVAC or Electrical or Plumbing certification.
  2. General contractor experience.
  3. Training skills.
