Description

NBBB has been building boats on beautiful Whidbey Island since 1964. Located in Freeland, WA, we produce state-of-the-art vessels including tugs, ferries, fire boats, fishing vessels, barges, dinner boats, and many other sophisticated ships. Just an hour from the thriving Seattle metropolitan area, we are part of Ice Cap Holdings, alongside Everett Ship Repair and Shared Ice Services, representing a strong presence in the Pacific Northwest maritime community.

We specialize in versatility, building and servicing a wide variety of vessels, and lead in adopting innovative marine technology. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Laborer to service shipyard facilities, perform cleaning, and support various construction projects related to facilities or vessels.

What You Will Do
  • Clean, service, and supply restrooms throughout the yard, facility, and offices, including permanent bathrooms and porta-johns.
  • Use various hand, power, and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.
  • Develop positive working relationships between the Facilities and Maintenance team and partner and client departments.
  • Dust furniture and fixtures as required.
  • Wash and disinfect washroom floors, toilets, seats, and fixtures.
  • Keep first aid and safety offices clean and organized.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
  • Maintain supplies of cleaning agents, toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap.
  • Mop tile and concrete floors in breakrooms and offices.
  • Spot clean walls and toilet partitions.
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Gather and empty trash and waste baskets, disposing of garbage outside.
  • Clean and disinfect drinking fountains.
  • Embrace continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs and report damages or vandalism.
  • Clean kitchen sinks and counters.
  • Remove litter and debris from yard, dock, and pier areas inside and outside buildings.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Handle heavy cleaning projects as needed.
  • Report deficiencies or repair needs to management.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and supervisors.
  • Perform other tasks as required in our dynamic work environment.
Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in facilities and maintenance roles.
  • Integrity and ability to work independently.
  • Endurance to bend, walk, push, and lift throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Physical capability to access all facility and yard areas.
  • Mechanical skills are preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, or vocational training.
  • Willingness to work extra hours or non-routine shifts as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and physical skills assessments.

Additional Qualifications That Would Stand Out

  • Experience with shipyard systems.
  • Previous janitorial experience.
  • Certification or skills in forklift operation.
