Job summary

Sanmina Corporation in Houston is seeking a technically-grounded Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to lead the startup and ongoing readiness of a new manufacturing plant focused on metal fabrication, powder coat painting and electro-mechanical assembly.

You will develop a preventative maintenance program, oversee heavy equipment, and guide a team of technicians to ensure 24/7 uptime while maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 6–8+ years of hands-on maintenance in heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Reading electrical schematics and maintaining automation equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a Preventative Maintenance program using a CMMS.
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical health of plant equipment.
  • Lead maintenance team and manage shift scheduling for 24/7 readiness.
  • Manage vendors, annual crane certifications, and lifecycle costs.
  • Ensure OSHA, NFPA 70E compliance and LOTO program.
  • Manage maintenance budget and spare parts inventory.

Job Title: Facilities and Equipment Engineering Manager

The Opportunity

We are seeking a technically-grounded Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to lead the upkeep and operational readiness of our brand-new Houston manufacturing plant. As part of the launch team, you will be responsible for supporting a world-class facility specializing in Metal Fabrication, Powder Coat Painting & Electro-Mechanical Assembly.

This role is ideal for a Facilities Engineer with a strong electro-mechanical background who is ready to step into supporting a start of the art facility. You will ensure that our facility’s critical assets—including heavy-duty bridge cranes, material handling equipment, and complex production machinery—operate at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Foundation & PM Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program. Transition the facility from a reactive setup to a data-driven reliability model using a CMMS.
  • Asset Integrity: Oversee the mechanical and electrical health of all plant equipment, specifically overhead bridge cranes , forklifts, and specialized industrial fabrication machinery.
  • Electrical Leadership: Act as the primary technical authority for plant electrical systems. Guide maintenance technicians through complex troubleshooting of high-voltage distribution, control panels, and PLC-driven equipment.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians. Set performance standards, conduct safety training, and manage shift scheduling to ensure 24/7 facility readiness.
  • Vendor & Lifecycle Management: Manage third-party contractors for specialized repairs, annual crane certifications, and facility upgrades. Utilize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) logic for spare parts procurement and equipment upgrades.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations meet OSHA, NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety), and environmental standards. Own the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program and machine guarding protocols.
  • Budget Accountability: Manage the maintenance budget, focusing on inventory health for critical spares to ensure "zero-downtime" production.
Required Experience & Education
  • Education: An Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with equivalent industrial experience is acceptable; a Masters Degree is a strong plus.
  • Professional Tenure: 6–8+ years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Experience as a Lead Tech, Foreman, or Supervisor is required.
  • Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of industrial electrical & mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drives. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Equipment Specifics: Proven experience maintaining automated fabrication equipment & powder coat paint lines is a must.
  • Software Fluency: Proficiency in utilizing CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Oracle, or specialized platforms like UpKeep/Fiix) to track work orders and asset history.
  • Certifications (A Plus): Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or mechanical /electrical journeyman/master license is a significant advantage.
