Want a job where you're out in the world, meeting people, and doing work that actually matters?
We're growing in Boston! With established offices based in Dorchester and Cambridge , we're looking for outgoing, motivated people who like being around others, want to make an impact, and are ready to build skills they can take with them wherever they go.
As a Face-to-Face Fundraiser / Canvasser , you'll be out in the community representing nonprofit organizations and talking with people about causes that matter — from disaster relief and support for children and families to animal welfare, human rights, and social justice . You'll learn about the issues your nonprofit partner is working on, share their work with the public, and inspire people to get involved by becoming monthly donors.
If you're social, energetic, and looking for work that's active, meaningful, and lets you meet people, you might be a great fit.
Fair warning: this is definitely not a desk job. You'll spend most of your shift outside, walking, standing, and talking to people face-to-face — rain or shine. If you'd rather be moving around and meeting people than staring at a computer all day, you'll probably like it here.
This is a goal-oriented fundraising job. You'll speak with lots of people each day to inspire them to become monthly donors for the nonprofit you're representing.
You'll get paid training, ongoing coaching, and plenty of support from your team, but fundraising can be challenging. You'll hear "no" a lot, and not every conversation turns into a donation. Your performance will be regularly coached and evaluated based on your ability to engage the public and successfully sign up new donors.
If you're resilient, motivated by clear goals, open to feedback, and get satisfaction from improving your results, you'll probably enjoy the challenge.
We think work is better when you can actually be yourself. Our team includes members of the LGBTQ+ community , and creating a space where people feel safe, respected, supported, and welcome is genuinely important to us.
You don't need fundraising experience — we'll teach you that. We're looking for people who bring energy, resilience, and curiosity, and who are comfortable being coached and working toward measurable goals.
You don't need to check every box or come with fundraising experience. If you're someone who likes people, cares about making a difference, can handle hearing "no," and is motivated to improve with coaching, we'd love to hear from you.
This could be a great fit if you're a canvasser, community organizer, student, recent graduate, hospitality or customer service professional, salesperson, volunteer, performer, or someone looking to break into the nonprofit world.
You'll get to:
All of our leaders started as fundraisers, learned to hit their goals, and developed the skills to coach others to do the same. Along the way, they've built their resumes, developed real leadership experience, and turned a fundraising job into a career.
Fundraising can also be a stepping stone into the nonprofit sector, giving you hands‑on experience in advocacy, donor engagement, communication, and community outreach.
This role requires a minimum commitment of 4 full shifts per week (30 hours). Each shift is 7.5 hours long, and we're looking for people who can consistently work within one of our regular schedules:
You don't need to be available for every shift listed above, but you do need to be able to consistently work at least 4 full shifts each week.
Public Outreach is a fundraising company that partners with nonprofit organizations to build support for causes that matter. Our fundraisers work directly with the public to help organizations create lasting change.
We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
