Job summary

L&L Inc is seeking a Fabricator/Welder to join our shop team. This role is responsible for welding, fitting, and fabricating parts and assemblies to specification while following direction from the shop manager and maintaining knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and techniques.

Qualified candidates will read blueprints and welding symbols, perform MIG or TIG welding, and work in multiple positions. AWS certification or the ability to pass a welding qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints, sketches and welding symbols to determine joint design and weld size.
  • Proficient in MIG or TIG welding processes.
  • Ability to perform welds in multiple positions (flat to overhead).
  • Read gauges, dials and amperage/voltage settings to ensure proper operation.
  • Strict adherence to shop safety procedures and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

  • Weld, fit and fabricate parts and assemblies to specifications.
  • Follow direction from shop manager and maintain knowledge of fabrication tools and techniques.
  • Determine tools, equipment and welding processes needed for each job.
  • Visually inspect welds for defects and maintain quality workmanship.

Job description

L&L Inc is now accepting applications for the position of Fabricator/Welder. This role is responsible for welding, fitting, and fabricating parts and assemblies to specification, while following direction from the shop manager and maintaining a general working knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and techniques.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in the United States.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and welding symbols (per AWS A2.4) to determine joint design, weld type, size, and placement.
  • Study and interpret assembly instructions, work orders, and specifications; interpret measurements accurately using standard and metric tools.
  • Proficiency in one or more welding processes, such as MIG (GMAW) or TIG (GTAW)
  • Ability to perform welds in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) as the job requires.
  • Working knowledge of base metals and filler metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.) and the ability to select appropriate materials and settings for the job.
  • AWS certification, or the ability to pass a welding qualification/weld test, is preferred.
  • Use mathematics to solve problems; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and correctly.
  • Ability to physically perform the requirements of the job, including heavy lifting up to 100 lbs, and working in a variety of positions (standing, kneeling, bending, or overhead) for extended periods.
  • Ability to determine the tools, equipment, and welding process needed to complete a job correctly and safely.
  • Ability to read gauges, dials, amperage/voltage settings, and other indicators to confirm equipment is operating properly.
  • Ability to visually inspect welds and recognize defects or problems (such as porosity, undercut, warping, or incomplete penetration) as they arise, or recognize when a machine or process is not working correctly.
  • Knowledge of and strict adherence to shop safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing), ventilation practices, and fire/hot-work safety.
  • Ability to imagine and visualize how a piece or assembly will look before, during, and after the project is completed.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
