Job summary

Safe Fleet is seeking a Mechanical Fabricator/Welder to join a team fabricating, installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems for the trucking industry. The role is on premises, handling tarp system fabrication, repair and installation with attention to quality in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is high-energy and physically capable, with experience on triaxle truck bodies and semi-trailers.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• 1 year welding experience preferred.
• Certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates steel and other metal parts per work orders and blueprints.
• Operates grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters to cut and shape material.
• Sets up gas welding to weld parts according to layouts and instructions.
• Regulates flow of gases for proper mixture.
• Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to welding.
• Sets up brazing with clamps, fixtures and torches to tolerances.
• Selects proper flux for welding processes.
• Sets up and operates stick welding to repair or fabricate parts.
• Reads tape measures and uses hand tools and semi-automatic equipment.

Safe Fleet a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for an Fabricator/Welder to work as part of a team fabricating, installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems.

We are looking for a mechanical Fabricator/Welder. This full-time position is responsible for on premises tarp system fabricating, repair and installation for the trucking industry. The qualified candidate must be a high energy, physical individual with experience working on triaxle truck bodies and semi-trailers in a fast paced, labor intensive environment. This individual will need to be motivated by a competitive industry and be results, detail and team-oriented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fabricates steel and other metal parts as indicated by the work order and blueprints.
• Maneuver fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters to cut, grind, and adjust material.
• Sets up and operates gas welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts and verbal instructions.
• Regulates flow of gases for proper mixture.
• Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to welding
• Set up and operates all phases of brazing applications using clamps, fixtures and torches working to specified tolerances.
• Selects proper flux
• Sets up and operates stick welding machines to repair, join or fabricate parts working with blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
• Read a tape measure, use hand tools and semi automatic manufacturing equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school education or equivalent
• 1 year of welding experience preferred
• Certification preferred but not required
