Job summary

VIKING FABRICATION SERVICES LLC is seeking a skilled fabricator helper to perform repetitive duties operating cutting, threading, grooving, and finishing equipment in our Illinois facility. You will load and stage pipe, operate saws, threaders, grinders, and banders, and assist with palletizing and shipping as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in a production multitask environment with time constraints.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic arithmetic.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Basic welding experience is a plus and may lead to certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws to cut pipe to length and to size specifications.
• Thread pipe and apply fittings using threading and grooving equipment.
• Load, stage, and move pipe using carts, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
• Finish and prep pipe ends with grinders and banders; prepare bundles for shipment.
• Follow SOPs and wear PPE; assist with other tasks as needed by fabrication lead.

Position performs repetitive or routine duties while operating required equipment to cut and thread pipe, make on fittings, bundle pipe, and clean up. Position requires basic operating knowledge of all fabrication processes and industry standards.Operate rotary chop saw and band saw to cut pipe to length.Handle movement of pipe along the length of table and off load to a cart or crate for staging in loading area.Operate Victaulic or Pace Grooving machine for a grooved pipe end process.Operate threader to apply thread to desired pipe.Operate Mercury or Pace Make on machine in order to apply fitting to desired pipe.Operate band saw in order to cut threaded rod to specified lengths.Install hanger devices to specified lengths of threaded rod.Operate bench grinder to apply required end to threaded rod for application of hanger devices.Push pipe carts of pipe to load area for loading purposes.Operate pneumatic staple gun to staple cardboard box to pallet.Use forklift when necessary to retrieve materials and move pipe.Operates pneumatic bander to ready pipe bundles for shipment when required.Completes training curriculum including but not limited to safety requirements while demonstrating an acceptable level of competence as defined by management.Uses all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated for the job function.Follow all company policies and procedures within the guideline of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Handle additional tasks necessary to fulfill the needs of the company and the customer as deemed by the fabrication lead, fabrication manager, or branch operations manager.REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or oral instruction, use simple arithmetic, keep simple records, or use simple office machines.
