Job summary

Viking Group, Inc. is seeking a fabrication associate to perform repetitive tasks involving cutting, threading, and assembling pipe. You will operate chop saws, band saws, grooving and threading machines, and apply fittings with Make-On devices.

The role requires familiarity with safety protocols, PPE, and the ability to follow SOPs. Forklift operation and material handling are essential parts of daily duties in a busy fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

Overview

Position performs repetitive or routine duties while operating required equipment to cut and thread pipe, make fittings, bundle pipe, and clean up. Position requires basic operating knowledge of all fabrication processes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate rotary chop saw and band saw to cut pipe to length.
• Handle movement of pipe along the length of the table and offload to a cart or crate for staging in the loading area.
• Operate Victaulic or Pace grooving machine for a grooved pipe end process.
• Operate threader to apply thread to desired pipe.
• Operate Mercury or Pace Make-On machine to apply fittings to desired pipe.
• Operate band saw to cut threaded rod to specified lengths.
• Install hanger devices to specified lengths of threaded rod.
• Operate bench grinder to prepare ends of threaded rod for application of hanger devices.
• Push pipe carts of pipe to the load area for loading purposes.
• Operate pneumatic staple gun to staple cardboard boxes to pallets.
• Use forklift when necessary to retrieve materials and move pipe.
• Operate pneumatic bander to bundle pipe and ready bundles for shipment when required.
• Complete training curriculum including safety requirements and demonstrate competence as defined by management.
• Wear and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated for the job function.
• Follow company policies and procedures within the guidelines of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Handle additional tasks as needed to fulfill the needs of the company and the customer as directed by the fabrication lead, fabrication manager, or branch operations manager.
