Job summary

Team Penske is seeking a skilled Body Fabricator to support NASCAR body fabrication operations. This role performs welding, fabrication, body installation, and repairs to prep race vehicles for competition and performance.

You will work independently or in teams, delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines and exacting specs. Responsibilities include fabricating parts, fitting body panels with metrology tools, welding multiple materials, repairing carbon fiber, and preparing components

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding experience preferred; MIG and TIG welding experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with race vehicle fabrication, composites, or motorsports environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate materials and components to meet Team Penske requirements as directed by management and engineering.
  • Prepare, fit, and install body panels using metrology equipment and measurement tools.
  • Cut, shape, bend, and prepare metal and tubing for fabrication projects.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on a variety of materials and components.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including drill presses, shears, brakes, rollers, rotary punches, and other manual machinery.
  • Repair carbon fiber and composite panels using approved repair and adhesion techniques.
  • Apply heat shielding, perform finishing work, and prepare components for installation.
  • Clean, deburr, grind, and prepare materials and surfaces for welding, adhesives, paint, or wraps.
  • Document measurements, processes, and work procedures to ensure repeatability and consistency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control personnel to improve fabrication processes and maintain accuracy.
  • Prepare components and assemblies for paint or vinyl wrap through sanding, body filling, smoothing joints, and finishing surfaces.
  • Operate sanders, grinders, and other fabrication equipment while following all PPE and safety requirements.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure finished work meets Team Penske standards and engineering specifications.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
  • Assist other fabrication team members as needed to support department goals.
  • Perform vehicle, body panel, and composite repair work as required.
  • Maintain part traceability, including serial numbers and other identifying information.
  • Travel as needed to support race events and Team Penske operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Team Penske is seeking a skilled Body Fabricator to support NASCAR Body Fabrication operations. This position is responsible for a variety of welding, fabrication, body installation, and repair processes to support race vehicle preparation and performance. The ideal candidate can work independently or as part of a team, producing high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines and exacting specifications. Work includes racecar body installation, vehicle and composite repairs, pit support equipment fabrication, and shop equipment fabrication.

  • Welding experience preferred; 3+ years of MIG and TIG welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances and detailed specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members across engineering, fabrication, and quality departments.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with race vehicle fabrication, composites, or motorsports environments is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb in and out of race vehicles.
  • Ability to work underneath vehicles when required.
  • Ability to push vehicles within the facility.
  • Ability to stand, squat, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work safely while using fabrication tools, machinery, and personal protective equipment.
