Job summary

Holland Applied Technologies in Burr Ridge IL is seeking a Fabricator/Machinist to operate manual lathes and milling machines, read blueprints, and produce high-quality components for the sanitary equipment industry.

The role requires extensive fabrication experience, precision measurement, and strict safety practices in a shop environment. 4 x 10's scheduling is preferred, with flexibility noted for 5 x 8's. Wage is hourly and experience-based.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of fabrication experience.
• At least 10 years of manual lathe and mill operation.
• 10-15 years of experience preferred.
• Must understand design techniques and tools for precise production of plans, drawings, models, blueprints and work orders.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to complete work within timeframes.
• Basic understanding of math related to work tasks.
• Good communication skills within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Operates machining equipment safely to produce high-quality parts.
• Reviews blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Performs precision cuts on manual lathes and milling machines.
• Identifies and performs minor machine maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures correct alignment and fit of all parts.
• Measures pieces with calipers, height gauges, rulers, tapes and squares.
• Operates drill presses, tube benders, belt sanders, and tube facing machines.
• Maintains specifications through drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing; detects malfunctions and troubleshoots.
• Keeps work area clean and organized.
• Adheres to PPE and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Holland Applied Technologies, located in Burr Ridge IL, is a leader in the sanitary process/equipment industry. We fabricate and distribute sanitary equipment and systems for the food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and beverage industries.

The Fabricator/Machinist manufactures assorted products using various stainless-steel fittings and tubing, various shaping and forming tools, as well as manual lathes and mills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe and efficient operation of all machining equipment to produce high-quality parts.
• Reviews blueprints and other specification papers before starting work on a fabrication process and during the steps to assure accurate completion.
• Takes precision cuts on manual lathes and manual milling machines.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensures that all parts on the order are properly aligned and fitted.
• Checks measurements and dimensions of each piece that's being worked on using calipers, height gages, ruler, measuring tapes and squares.
• Versed in operating drill presses, tube benders, belt sanders, and tube facing machines.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations, including the use of PPE.
• Assures parts are clean and placed in their respective areas for the next manufacturing process.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• At least 10 years of fabrication experience
• At least 10 years of manual lathes and mill operation.
• 10-15 years of experience preferred
• Must understand design techniques, principles and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, blueprints and work orders.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to complete work assignments within designated timeframes.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to work assignments.
• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work with all members in the organization.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Must be able to complete various activities in the shop that may require hours of walking, sitting, standing, bending/stooping, lifting and carrying.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise, and different climate temperatures.
• Schedule: 4 x 10's preferred but open to 5 x 8's
