Job summary

Bolthouse Fresh Foods, based in Bakersfield, CA, seeks a skilled welder to fabricate, layout, position, align, fit, and weld structural metal parts including sanitary piping. The role requires reading blueprints, MIG and TIG welding, and precise workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units per blueprints and specs.
• Operate MIG and TIG welders, plasma cutters, grinders, and hand tools.
• Verify conformance with specs using squares, levels, and tapes.
• Tack-weld, lay out stock, and check for proper alignment.
• Move parts with hoists or cranes and set up fabricating machines.
• Fit stainless and carbon steel schedule pipe and sanitary process piping.

What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role

The ideal candidate will fabricate, layout, position, align, fit, and weld parts of structural metal parts pipe layout including sanitary welding process.

• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits by following blueprints and layout specifications
• Use MIG and TIG welders, plasma cutters, grinders and hand tools and settling torch
• Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, levels, and measuring tapes
• Tack-weld fitted parts together
• Layout and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met
• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers
• Locate, mark work piece bending, cutting lines; allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications
• Move parts into position, manually, with hoists, or cranes
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as, shear, Ironworker, drill press, pipe bender and band saw to bend cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components
• Will fit stainless and carbon steel schedule pipe, as well as sanitary process piping
• Setup and operate orbital welder facing machine , purging process & hand welding
• Use aerial man lifts to install equipment and utilities
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• High School/GED or two to five years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
• Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Shear and break experience preferred but willing to train
• Sanitary process piping experience
• Orbital welder experience but willing to train

Physical Demands

• Environment exposure_ hot/humid conditions (95 ° Fahrenheit or above).
• Environment exposure – cold/wet conditions (40 ° Fahrenheit or below).
• Material exposure – moving mechanical parts
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis when assigned to perform work duties.
• Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extendedperiod.
• Ability to stand forlong periodsof time

Hours & Workdays

1 st Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
