Job summary

PTA Plastics in the United States is seeking a Laborer/Fabricator to assist the fabrication department in welding and cage production, and to support the production labor efforts.

You will measure, cut, weld 1/2-inch rod, monitor inventories, keep areas clean, and participate in safety meetings. Requires high school diploma or GED and welding experience. Familiarity with listed machinery is a plus and other duties may be assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Must have knowledge and experience in welding procedures.
• Ability to accurately and effectively use a tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Welds and measures 1/2-inch rod for cage frames and fabricates steel pallets.
• Monitors raw materials and cage inventories.
• Cuts and measures rod to length for cage styles.
• Prepares parts on tables for shaping and welding.
• Maintains clean, organized fabrication areas.
• Performs laborer tasks in production, shipping, and receiving as needed.
• Attends safety meetings and training.
• Familiar with hydraulic press, iron worker, band saw, roll bender, MIG welder, and hand grinder operations.
• Other duties assigned by Plant Manager or supervisors.

Job description

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist the fabrication department in all facets of welding and cage production, as well as the labor effort in the production department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Measures, cuts and welds ½-inch rod into various sizes for cage frames as needed for production purposes; occasionally fabricates steel pallets.
• Monitor raw material and finished cage inventories.
• Measure rod to proper length for designated cage style.
• Place on proper table for shaping and welding.
• Keep fabrication areas clean and organized at all times.
• Perform Laborer jobs in production and/or shipping and receiving, as required.
• Attend safety meetings/training as required.
• Must have knowledge of the following machinery and know the proper operation of each:
  • Hydraulic Press
  • Iron Worker
  • Band Saw
  • Roll Bender
  • Mig Welder
  • Hand Grinder
• Other duties, as assigned by Plant Manager, Shift Leader, Fabrication Leader

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have knowledge and experience in welding procedures.
• Ability to accurately and effectively use a tape measurer.
