Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, seeks a skilled Fabricator to complete shop orders using sheet metal fabrication techniques and a range of equipment. You will ensure parts conform to drawings and specifications while working with raw materials and computer-controlled devices.

The role requires knowledge of GD&T, safety, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, either independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred but not required
• Must pass background check and drug
• Fabricator 1 - 6 months or more operational experience in fabrication using manual and computer-controlled equipment
• Fabricator 2 - 4 years or more operational experience in fabrication using manual and computer-controlled equipment
• Fabricator – 15 years or more operational experience in fabrication using equipment
• Associates degree in Metal Fabrication Technology or similar degree preferred, but equivalent working experience
• Forklift certification & scissor lift certification
• Ability to fabricate geometrically complex sheet metal and/or copper components using equipment including brake presses, shears, waterjet, folding, laser, plasma
• Ability to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing

Job description

Summary

This position is responsible for completing various shop orders using specific fabrication skills and techniques. A working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and mechanical principles is required. The position involves working closely with raw materials, using a variety of fabrication equipment, specialized machinery, and computerized devices. The position is accountable for ensuring that the quality of the components and products he/she creates conform to drawings and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to use a wide variety of both manually operated and computer-operated fabrication

• Knowledge and ability to apply mathematics and measurement tools to setup equipment and ensure end products meet dimensional requirements and

• Working knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

• Quality Assurance (QA) skills – experience with quality assurance and control processes employed to ensure that fabricated parts meet specifications and quality standards.

• Examine parts and components to ensure that they are free of

• Safety skills – demonstrated ability to follow safety standards and protocols and ensure the safety of other team members in proximity to all work

• Ability to work with maintenance team members to assist with repairs and troubleshooting and ensure equipment is properly maintained for reliable

Team coordination

Team coordination – Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment. Ability to successfully collaborate with team members throughout the manufacturing process.

Physical Demands

This position will require standing, stooping, bending, and limited lifting of up to 50lbs.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, noise intensity level, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts.
