Full Time Technical N. Sioux City, SD, US

The Fabricator is responsible for operating various fabrication machines, including cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches. These machines cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures to meet production specifications.

Fabricator Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate Fab Shop and Machine Shop machinery and equipment.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Position workpieces against stops or align layout marks with dies or blades.
  • Activate machinery by pressing buttons or depressing pedals.
  • Observe machine operation to detect defects in workpieces or machine malfunctions.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces as required.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Fabricator Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or (GED, or High School Equivalency Diploma).
  • 1+ years of related experience or training in a similar role.
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Fabricator Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools, materials, or controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to count and report parts accurately.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
  • Capable of standing for 8+ hours per day on a concrete manufacturing floor.
  • Strong ability to stay on task with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in other departments/areas as needed to meet business demands.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, airborne particles, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting that may involve standing for extended periods.
  • Requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, as needed.
  • May be exposed to sparks, sharp objects, heavy materials, and industrial machinery.
  • Work schedule may include overtime, weekends, or varying shifts based on production demands.
  • Temperatures vary based on external conditions.
