Job summary

NORDAM Group LLC is seeking a Fabricator - Assembler to fabricate, assemble and repair metallic and nonmetallic parts used on operational aircraft. The role requires reading blueprints, following work instructions, and using routers, drills and grinders to finish details according to specifications.

The position involves assembling parts into subassemblies, applying adhesives, riveting and installing assemblies in frames per blueprints.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and repair detail parts, subassemblies and assemblies used on operational aircraft.
• Use hand and power tools (routers, drills, die grinders) to complete operations per work instructions.
• Assemble parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies, drive and buck rivets, attach adhesives and install assemblies per blueprints.
• Set up and cut patterns; upholster interior panels and cabinets; install snaps, Velcro and grommets; sew and finish fabrics where required.
• Operate production machines (presses, shears, brakes, saws, drills, lathes, mills) to fabricate components.

Job Summary

Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform various production operations to fabricate, assemble and repair metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemblies used on operational aircraft.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Performs tasks that are required to fabricate, assemble and repair detail parts, subassemblies and assemblies used on operational aircraft. The level of work performed is simple to moderately complex requiring some skill and experience to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives.
• Performs tasks that include routine and repetitive fabrication and assembly functions following established methods and procedures. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material with or without templates or shop aides. Routes, saws, drills or otherwise change and add value to detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions.
• Uses hand and power tools such as routers, drills, die grinders and other like tools to complete the required operations called out in the work instructions. Trims parts to fit and files, grinds, deburrs, bevels edges, polishes surfaces and other wise finishes out the material, part or assembly to specifications.
• Assembles detail parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies using written and verbal work instructions. Drives and bucks rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepares and applies adhesives to detail parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
• Sets up and cuts out patterns. Upholsters interior panels and cabinets for aircraft installation or modification. Installs snaps and slide fasteners, hook and loop tape (Velcro) and grommets. Sewing, seaming and surging of materials.
• Operates production machines and equipment such as hot or cold presses, shears, brakes, band saws, drill presses, lathes, mills and other like production machines to fabricate parts, components and material for production uses.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Experience Requirements

2-4 year(s) Fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metallic parts used on operational aircraft.

Skills and Competencies

• Reads and interprets blueprints, production planning and detailed work instructions.
• Successfully complete job specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or special assignments.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.

• Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements.
• May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management.
