Job summary

Manitou Group is seeking a Fab/Machine Operator for the 2nd shift in Yankton, South Dakota. You will set up, operate and maintain machinery, read blueprints, and ensure high-quality production at capacity, with safety as a priority.

Qualifications include reading drawings and interpreting instructions, plus a willingness to work overtime and lift up to 50 lbs. A HS diploma or GED is required. The position is onsite with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Contact Fabrication Manager, Supervisor or Fabrication Leader if problems arise.
• Notify supervisor immediately in case of an accident or injury.
• Overtime as required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
• Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Fab/Machine operators set-up, operate, and maintain machinery. Responsible for ensuring the machine produces high quality products, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained. Fabrication involves cutting and bending of sheet metal for fabrication of Manitou products.

Available Shift: 2nd Shift – Monday-Thursday 3:15p-1:45a (plus a 15% shift differential)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; perform tasks in a safe manner.

Interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Assists with procuring materials needed for production. Must use tape measure, square, protractor, dial caliper and plug gauges.

Must operate the various equipment including lasers and press brakes.

Responsible for completion for production and quality paperwork.

Contact Fabrication Manager, Supervisor or Fabrication Leader if problems arise.

In the event of an accident or injury immediately, notify the Shift supervisor on duty.

Contact the Maintenance Department to get equipment repaired when necessary.

Ability and willingness to take on additional assignments as requested by management.

Use tools, equipment and technology, computers or automated systems.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Check results for conformance to print and / or specifications and make necessary corrections.

Work with coworkers in a polite and courteous manner, providing cross training as needed.

Able to work overtime as required.

Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Expectations for advancement purpose

Level I

Must meet and exceed the above duties and responsibilities

Ability to read and use measuring instruments

Level II

All duties of Level I in addition to:

Ability to operate machines and their operating systems

Level III

All duties of Level I and II in addition to:

Training of new employees

Programming of Lasers

EXPERIENCE:

One year of experience is preferred

EXPERTISE:

Must be able to read and interpret drawings, standard work instructions, checklists, internal and external deviations, etc.

Computer skills – knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite is preferred.

Strong analytical and reasoning skills.

Must be a self-starter, team player, and have the ability to multitask.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED
