Job summary

MANITOU Group is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for its Yankton, South Dakota site. You will plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes, respond to issues, and ensure products meet specifications and schedules while optimizing resources.

Requirements include a BS in Engineering or Manufacturing and 1–2 years in assembly of construction or agricultural equipment. CAD proficiency and strong time management are essential; on-site role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing is required.
  • One to two years of experience with assembly of construction or agricultural equipment preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with CAD software.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, communication and computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Determine processes, materials and fixtures for efficient manufacturing.
  • Establish bills of material, routings, machine burdens and new work centers.
  • Create instructions for new products to be manufactured.
  • Process internal ECOs and implement changes to manufacturing.

General Accountability

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will help plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes and projects in the plant; respond to manufacturing issues and concerns to ensure products are produced to specifications and according to manufacturing schedules while ensuring efficient use of resources. Manufacturing Engineer reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • You will help develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Determines the processes, identifies the materials and supplies to be used, and designs and builds appropriate fixtures necessary for efficient and cost effective manufacturing.
  • Establish bills of material, manufacturing routings, machine burdens, and new work centers.
  • Creates instructions for new products to be manufactured.
  • Process internal engineering change orders (ECOs), processes and incorporates the changes, and ensures changes become effective.
  • Study and record time, motion, methods and speed involved in performance of production and other worker operations to establish standard production rates and to improve efficiencies. Institute changes in the production processes and/or recommends adjustments to product pricing.
  • Perform engineering activities in compliance with established company and manufacturing standards, engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Confer with customers and engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to insure efficient production methods.
  • Confer with vendors to determine part specifications and recommend the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Other duties may be assigned.
Experience
  • One to two years of experience with assembly of construction or agricultural equipment is preferred
Expertise
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, communication and computer skills are required. Must be able to gather, manipulate and analyze data.
Education
  • BS Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
What does MANITOU Group offer?
  • Base Salary Range between $70,000 – $105,000 per year, plus a potential annual bonus based on performance metrics
    • Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location
  • This position is located onsite in Yankton, South Dakota
