SUMMARY

The Fabrication Technician crafts and builds event setups and structures, collaborating with design and production teams to bring concepts to life. This role requires experience with fabrication tools, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work creatively in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate has a carpentry background and experience working both in a shop and on‑site for installs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Fabricate and finish live event activations and scenic structures based on design specifications.
  • Build, paint, install, maintain, and strike production elements in collaboration with the Show Imaging team.
  • Partner with design and production teams to align on project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Travel locally and nationally to lead or assist with event structure setup and installation; work flexible hours as required.
  • Operate and maintain fabrication tools and equipment, performing regular inspections to ensure safe, optimal use.
  • Track material usage, maintain shop organization, and assist with building maintenance and upgrades.
  • Apply or develop skills in drafting programs (e.g., AutoCAD) and gain knowledge of audio, video, and lighting equipment to support integrated event builds.
  • Participate in company-wide projects, work calls, meetings, and events as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3–5 years’ experience in show production (e.g. theatre, concerts, or corporate events preferred).
  • Strong carpentry background with experience in both shop fabrication and onsite installs.
  • Proficiency in rigging, motion control, stagecraft, and use of hand/power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of construction materials (e.g. wood, metal, foam, vinyl, plastics).
  • Strong troubleshooting, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision, quality, and safety.
  • Comfortable working long hours, standing 4–6 hours, and maintaining flexibility for nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Effective collaboration skills across diverse teams and environments.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to safely operate standard power tools and equipment commonly used in construction and event setup.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to distinguish colors, textures, and patterns for accurate assembly and installation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as bend, stoop, crawl, stretch, climb, and lift repeatedly.
  • Lift, move, and transport equipment, materials, and tools weighing 50 lbs. (unassisted) or more to complete assigned projects.
  • Work in various climates and conditions including warehouse and outdoor elements (e.g. noise, dust, weather).
  • Operate carts, dollies, pallet jacks and other gear to move items around.
  • Go up and down stairs, when applicable.
  • Work at a height of up to 30 feet or more and on mezzanine, when applicable.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles (e.g. small trucks, vans) including maneuvering in varied environments.
