Job summary

DNOW in Odessa, TX is seeking a skilled welder to join our team. You will perform wire welding GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, weld in multiple positions, and read dimensional prints to fabricate components.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, own tools, and experience with pumps; ASME Section IX is a plus. Safety and quality are emphasized in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, or combination of education and experience.
  • Must provide own welding tools.
  • Ability to read and fabricate to dimensional prints.
  • AWSD1.1 qualification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding using GMAW, FCAW, or SMAW.
  • Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Weld components in aluminum, steel, and other alloys.
  • Select and install torches, tips, filler rods, and flux per specifications.
  • Ignite torches and strike arcs to complete circuits.
  • Perform quality checks to meet standards.
  • Rework or repair welded structures per engineering changes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform duties using wire welding GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding), or SMAW (Stick Welding)
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, steel, and other alloys.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards.
  • Rework and/or repair welded structures according to engineering specification changes.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma and/or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience
  • Must provide own tools
  • Prior experience in welding and/or fabricating: Pump Packages, FMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) / FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
  • Must be able to read and fabricate to dimensional prints
  • Must be able to qualify to AWSD1.1
  • Pipe Welding (ASME Section IX) is a plus
  • Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills, proficient in oral and written communications.
