Job summary

Hanger, Inc. is seeking a Fabricator in Nicholasville, KY to fabricate orthotic and prosthetic devices with focus on fit, function and aesthetics. The role requires familiarity with fabrication techniques and safe handling of materials.

The Fabrication Technician will stay current with new techniques, assist peers, and may lead a small team. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics is a strong asset.
• Experience with orthotic/prosthetic fabrication processes and lab equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate orthotic and/or prosthetic devices to meet fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship standards.
• Train Associate Fabricators and peers several times per week.
• Occasionally lead a workstream or assist with inventory tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and OSHA requirements.

The Fabrication Technician fabricates the orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Fabrication Technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
• Occasionally (Several times a week) trains Associate Fabricators and peers
• Occasionally (Several times a week) acts as an informal team lead within their workstream.
• May Assist or Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Works on Three - Four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5s to ensure for a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
• Adhere to all HIPPA and other regulatory compliance training issued by Hanger, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 1 years' experience working within environments that include: machinery, tools, wood working, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. -OR-
• Without high school diploma/GED, 2 years' experience working within O&P environments that include: machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.

• Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
