Job summary

Amarr, part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, is seeking a Barrel Fabrication Operator to fabricate, weld, and assemble barrel components per engineering specs. You will support production schedules, maintain quality standards, and uphold safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, gathering materials, assembling subassemblies, performing welds, and conducting in-process inspections. High attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, machining, or assembly.
  • Ability to read cut sheets, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, and basic geometric requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review cut sheets and drawings to fabricate barrel components.
  • Assemble barrel components and subassemblies per instructions.
  • Weld nuts, springs, brackets and other components to assemblies.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment (saws, drills, welders, grinders).
  • Perform quality inspections and document results.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following 5S principles.

Barrel Fabrication Operator

The Barrel Fabrication Operator is responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling barrel components in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements. This role ensures barrel assemblies are manufactured accurately and efficiently while supporting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe and organized work environment.

Shift

Monday - Thursday; 7am - 5:30pm

Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly
  • Review and interpret cut sheets, work orders, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Obtain required materials, components, tools, and equipment to support production schedules.
  • Verify materials and component specifications prior to fabrication and assembly.
  • Measure, mark, and cut barrel materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Prepare springs and other components for installation and assembly.
  • Assemble fabricated barrel components and subassemblies using established work instructions.
  • Drill, bore, and prepare holes in barrel assemblies according to engineering specifications.
  • Ensure completed assemblies meet dimensional and production requirements prior to release.
Welding & Equipment Operation
  • Weld nuts, springs, brackets, and other metal components to or within barrel assemblies according to specifications.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment including saws, drill presses, welders, grinders, and other production machinery.
  • Safely utilize hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and report malfunctions or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment and process issues and communicate concerns to supervision.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections using gauges, calipers, tape measures, fixtures, and other approved measuring instruments.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, weld integrity, hole locations, and component placement prior to releasing products to the next operation.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, work instructions, and operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping and 5S requirements.
  • Report safety concerns, quality defects, equipment issues, or process concerns to leadership promptly.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Meet daily productivity, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning fabrication processes, products, and departmental procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production priorities and operational needs.
  • Assist in cross-training activities and support departmental goals as needed.
General Responsibilities
  • Accurately enter and maintain production-related data and documentation as required.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions related to production schedules and work assignments.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Work effectively within a team environment while supporting overall production objectives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, welding, machining, or assembly experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret cut sheets, blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and basic geometric requirements on drawings.
  • Working knowledge of welding and metal fabrication processes.
  • Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and standard measurements.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to producing quality products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Welding certification or demonstrated welding proficiency.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and quality inspection tools.
  • Experience working in lean manufacturing environments and utilizing 5S principles.
Other Job Responsibilities And Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials weighing more than 45 lbs. using team lifting procedures.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift).
  • Ability to safely move throughout the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and/or ladders as required for job tasks.
  • Ability to use hands, wrists, and fingers for handling materials, writing, and computer work.
  • Frequent use of computers, keyboards, tablets, scanners, or handheld devices.
  • Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environmental conditions.
