Job summary

Kmw Ltd is seeking a Plasma Punch Operator/NC Machinist to join the fabrication team. You will interpret drawings and program sheets, set up punches, dies, and plasma nozzles, and adjust feeds and speeds to meet tolerances. You’ll load materials, monitor cycles, and perform inspections to ensure quality.

Strong focus on safety, blueprint reading, and tool changes is required. Expected to work with a team under the Fabrication Supervisor in a loud, high-demand environment with heavy lifting.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to interpret program sheets and work orders and select proper tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, program sheets, and work orders to determine forming sequences.
  • Load materials and position/secure them per setup instructions.
  • Operate plasma cutter or brake press and monitor machine performance.

Job description

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.1. Thinks safety and exercises safe work habits in daily endeavors.2. Interprets complicated drawings, program sheets and work orders to determine work to be done and determine forming sequences and dimensions of finished work piece.3. Performs a variety of punching and cutting operations to close and interrelated tolerances.4. Loads control disk in machine control console or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.5. Selects and installs punches, dies and plasma nozzles in machine or machine tool holders.6. Loads material onto machine bed and positions and secures material according to setup instructions.7. Manipulates controls and enters commands to index machine to specified set point and to start machine.8. Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged punches, dies and cutting tips.9. Changes punches, dies and/or nozzle tips as specified in setup instructions.10. Performs a variety of inspections to insure adherence quality standards and specifications.11. Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.12. Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.13. Utilizes override control to correct conditions that are out of tolerance or operating unusually.14. Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes punches, dies and tips to produce parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.15. Discusses nesting or machining problems with NC programmer.16. Removes slag or burrs from edges of work piece.17. Cleans machine and tooling.18. Performs machine maintenance19. Performs the duties of a Numeric Controlled Machine Operator, operating either a plasma cutter or a brake press.20. All other duties as assigned.Competencies1.
