Job description

Are you a High School Junior or Senior and are interested in learning new skills to jump start your career after graduation? A Youth Apprenticeship is a great opportunity to gain new skills and get paid while still in school!

EK’s Complete Manufacturing division crafts complex parts and assemblies through expert fabrication, welding, powder coating, machining, assembly and testing processes in state-of-the-art facilities using cutting-edge equipment. Under the direct supervision of a mentor, you will assist the fabrication department by performing the following duties:

  1. Reads set up sheet, identifies appropriate tooling, and properly sets up the Brake Press, Laser, or Punch to avoid scrap, tool, or machine damage.
  2. Selects the appropriate Brake Press, Laser, or Punch program operation and makes feature changes as needed.
  3. Reads and understands American and European blue prints and geometric tolerances to assist with bending and cutting metal.
  4. Uses proper lifting and handling techniques to load and unload steel.
  5. Inspects parts using micrometers, height gauges, and calipers and records the dimensional data on the inspection sheet.
  6. Adjusts the Brake Press, Laser, or Punch to maintain part specifications.
  7. Uses proper deburring techniques to maintain good cosmetic appearance of parts.
  8. Cleans hand tools and tooling and returns to proper location.

Education: High School Junior or Senior enrolled in a related Tech Ed class.
