Job summary

Excelitas Technologies Corp. in Boulder, Colorado, is seeking a Fabrication Technician II to perform optical fabrication processes including beveling, grinding, polishing, and inspection.

You will work on intermediate parts and contribute to producing ultra-precision components for lasers, instrumentation, and defense applications. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic math skills, and 2–4 years manufacturing experience; optical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic shaping process steps on simple to medium-difficult parts.
• Beveling - cup and straight line.
• Blocking - standard and wax blocking with appropriate tooling.
• Edging - standard edging tasks up to 0.001 tolerance.
• Milling - standard milling tasks.
• Grinding - continuous and double-sided operations.
• Inspects and cleans parts; reads work instructions and prints.
• Measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, comparators and related tools.

We are presently seeking aFabrication Technician II who will perform various optical fabrication processes, including but not limited to beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspection/measurements.

Main responsibilities:

• Performs basic shaping process steps on simple to medium-difficult parts.
• Beveling - cup and straight line
• Blocking - standard (multiple parts on the same block), wax blocking, which includes the ability to choose the correct type of tooling
• Edging - standard edging tasks up to .001 tolerance
• Milling - standard milling tasks
• Sawing - KLE cut-off type operations
• Grinding - to include continuous and double-sided
• May assist with pouring the lap
• Inspects and cleans partsBasic reading and comprehension of work instructions and prints for basic dimensions
• Mathematics - Using basic mathematics to calculate.....
• Measurement skills include: calipers, drop gauges, micrometers, comparators, measuring microscope (Z scope), and spherometer.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic Math skills
• Teamwork - the ability to work effectively and contribute to a team
• At least 2-4 years of manfacturing experience
• Optical experience preferred

Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings, and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology, and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
