Job summary

Arthur G Russell Co. is seeking a Fabrication Supervisor in Fletcher, NC to coordinate and monitor fabrication and welding activities, machine complex parts to drawings, and ensure safety and quality across the shop floor.

The role requires overseeing equipment setup, mentoring apprentices, and collaborating with other departments to improve processes and meet production schedules. Full-time, on-site position with standard Plant Manager-directed hours.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, bills of materials and other instructions to determine fabrication methods, tooling and the most efficient sequence of operations.
• Set up and operate manual metalworking equipment and CNC equipment as needed.

Fabrication Full Time Fletcher, NC, US

Reporting to the Plant Manager, coordinate and monitor the activities of the Fabrication and Welding Departments. Work with minimal supervision and assistance to machine complex parts to engineering drawings, sketches or other documentation, including verbal instructions, using metalworking equipment.

Essential Functions

• Supervise daily fabrication and welding activities, assign work and coordinate labor and resources to meet production schedules.
• Monitor employee performance, productivity and workmanship; provide guidance and communicate employee concerns to the Plant Manager.
• Train and mentor employees, including Toolmaker Apprentices, and coordinate supervisory coverage during absences.
• Review engineering drawings, bills of materials and other instructions to determine fabrication methods, tooling and the most efficient sequence of operations.
• Set up and operate manual metalworking equipment, including ProtoTraks, Bridgeports, mills, lathes, drill presses and grinders, to produce complex parts that meet specifications.
• Operate CNC equipment as needed.
• Monitor part quality throughout production, submit samples to Inspection and promptly communicate production or quality issues to the Plant Manager.
• Collaborate with other departments, assist employees as needed and participate in job reviews and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain fabrication equipment and tools in good working order, use them as intended and keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
• Follow company policies, safety and security procedures, and AGR Quality System and ISO requirements.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

• Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Good vision and eye / hand coordination.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work hours are established by the Plant Manager. Overtime is required as needed and at the direction of the Plant Manager.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Tool Maker or Machinist Apprenticeship or equivalent and four to six years of experience
