Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure the quality of fabricated parts and finished products meets inspection standards. You will develop and maintain inspection standards, calibrate and document inspection equipment, and review drawings before inspection.

Responsibilities include comprehensive visual inspections, reporting findings, coordinating with Warehouse, handling non-conforming parts, and supporting assembly and supplier evaluation activities.

Qualifications

  • Develop and maintain inspection standards for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products.
  • Maintain equipment inspection readiness: properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and documented.
  • Review final drawings for technical requirements before inspecting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and stay current with technologies relevant to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all equipment used to inspect product has been properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and documented.
  • Review final drawings, paying close attention to technical requirements and specifications prior to inspecting the product.
  • Conduct visual inspections with precision tools to verify weldments meet acceptance criteria, codes, standards, and specs.
  • Inspect machined equipment visually with precision tools to ensure it meets acceptance criteria, codes, standards, and specs at our facility.
  • Compile and submit daily inspection reports and photographs. Communicate inspection findings and drawing discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisor to release inspected items.
  • Place all non-conforming parts on hold and coordinate with the Project Manager, Purchasing, and suppliers to resolve deviations.
  • Assist with product assembly as needed and determine root causes of defects, recommending corrective actions.
  • Conduct supplier visits to address quality issues and evaluate vendors for qualification as a Qualified Supplier.
  • Assist with preparing control charts and reports to monitor supplier performance.
  • Maintain surface finish specifications and train internal personnel on their application.

Basic Function

Responsible for ensuring that the quality of all fabricated work-in-progress parts and finished product meets the inspection standards for each project/part.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain inspection standards for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products.
  • Ensure that all equipment being used to inspect product has been properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and documented
  • Review final drawings, paying close attention to technical requirements and specifications prior to inspecting the product.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections, both internally and externally, using precision measuring tools to determine whether a weldment or piece of equipment meets the applicable acceptance criteria, codes, standards, and specifications. This is done at the supplier’s location as well as in-housein some instances.

  • Conduct supplier visits on an as needed basis to improve quality issues and evaluate vendors for qualifications as a Qualified Supplier. Assist with preparing control charts and reports to monitor supplier performance.
  • Maintain surface finish specifications and train internal personnel on their application.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend practical solutions.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and stay current with emerging technologies relevant to this position.
