Job summary

Piston Automotive is seeking a Quality Technician to test and inspect welded parts at various stages of production. The role involves compiling and evaluating statistical data to ensure product quality and reliability, and collaborating with the Quality engineer on disposition of non-conforming parts.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED and at least five years of experience in quality roles.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets engineering drawings and specs to determine quality standards.
  • Selects products for tests at stages in production and evaluates dimensions, performance, and material characteristics.
  • Records test data and applies basic SPC/GRR quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes deviation reports against standards.
  • Performs destructive and nondestructive tests to measure performance.
  • Executes daily process audits of weld cells per audit procedures.
  • Prepares graphs/charts of data for analysis and decision making.
  • Conducts dock audits per the quality plan.
  • Manages LPA process audits with weekly assignments and records.

Job description

Tests and inspects products including welded parts at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

Review daily supplier non‑conforming parts and work with the Quality engineer for disposition. Communicates quality concerns or issues to production associates. Assist with prototype builds before shipment including gauge r&r and safe launch checklist. Assist in the training of production associates for quality related matters. Assist as line side QA as needed. Process daily scrap through trans4M and maintain controls of parts going in and out of the quarantine cage.

Responsibilities
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying basic statistical quality control procedures (SPC, MSA/GRR).
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Perform daily process audits of all production weld cells per audit procedures.
  • Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computer for analysis.
  • Performs dock audits per the quality plan.
  • Manage LPA process audit with weekly assignments and records.
Qualifications

High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Five years of experience as a Quality Technician or a related role.
