Complex Fabricators Inc. in Utah is seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager to build and lead a premier fabrication operation for aerospace, defense, and medical projects.

You will drive safety, quality, and Lean initiatives while collaborating with the VP of Operations on schedules, productivity, and cost targets. Your leadership will mentor welders, fitters, and supervisors, optimize throughput, and ensure compliance with AS9100 and AWS standards.

Qualifications

• General leadership experience in the manufacturing/welding/fabrication industries.
• Experience with GMAW, SMAW, FCAW applications.
• Inspect welds to National Codes and Standards.
• Read customer blueprints.
• Knowledge of welding parameters and filler metals storage.
• Strong communication to delegate and interface with customers.
• Organize shop floor equipment to maximize productivity.
• Experience with large/complex welding/fabrication projects.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong time management and organization.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
• Lean manufacturing tools/methods (5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, Visual Management, VSM, Root Cause Analysis).
• Self-motivated and independent work style.
• Able to lift 10-50 lbs.
• Good eyesight and depth perception.
• Apply lean tools in daily management.
• Own department performance via key metrics.
• Read and apply welding specs/drawings; discuss welding terminology/symbols.
• Review/update welding instructions and welding requirements as needed.
• Ensure products meet drawings, AWS, AS9100, and quality standards; report performance.
• Develop future leaders by mentoring welders/fitters/supervisors.
• Improve throughput via workflow/fixture design/weld sequencing/workstation organization.
• Understand AS9100 quality management system.
• Lead continuous improvement projects for safety, quality, throughput, cost, engagement.

Responsabilités

• Lead and manage all fabrication areas to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets.
• Collaborate with VP of Operations on schedules, production planning, productivity standards, and improvements.
• Promote proactive safety culture and identify/correct hazards.
• Provide coaching and training to promote employee growth and pride.
• Champion Lean initiatives and manage ongoing improvements in throughput and waste reduction.
• Review performance metrics like on-time delivery, labor efficiency, scrap, and first-pass yield.
• Recommend equipment, tooling, and automation investments to boost productivity.
