Job summary

Bel-Aire Mechanical, a Legence company, is hiring a Fab Shop Quality Control Technician in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on visual inspection, dimensional verification, weld quality checks, and ensuring all spool documentation is complete.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of weld inspection experience and certifications such as AWS-WI or ASNT VT Level II. Excellent communication and computer skills are required for daily reporting and collaboration with the fabrication team.

Qualifications

• QCR must pass the visual examination requirements or be an AWS Certified Welding Inspector, or possess an ASNT VT Level II Certification.
• Familiar with visual examination of welds, brazed and bonded joints.
• Able to read drawings, understand metallurgy and welding symbols.
• Familiar with Visual Examination tools such as Fillet Weld Gauge and V-Wac Gauge.
• Minimum of 2 years’ weld examination experience.
• Strong computer and software skills including word processing, email, and basic spreadsheets/presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Receipt and control of purchased material and equipment.
• Visual inspection for damaged material upon delivery and advise fabrication manager for further processing.
• Ensure work is executed and examined per Quality Plan and contract specs.
• Perform Dimensional & Orientation verifications from spool drawings.
• Perform weld quality examination on spool welds.
• Verify spool information and documentation is complete.
• Ensure each spool is tagged with its designated identification.
• Ensure protective caps/plugs are installed in all spool openings.
• Store fabricated spools in approved staging area.
• Notify fabrication manager when spools are complete and ready for shipment.
• Submit weekly reports to the Quality Manager.
