Job summary

Kelso Industries in Duncan, SC is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector for our fabrication shop. You will ensure fabricated pipe spools and assemblies meet engineering drawings, client specifications, and industry codes through inspection, material traceability, testing coordination, and thorough QA/QC documentation.

The role involves visual weld inspection, verification of weld preparation and fit-up, NDT coordination, maintaining logs, and preparing NCRs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of QA/QC experience in pipe fabrication or industrial fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics and P&IDs.
• Working knowledge of ASTM material specifications.
• Strong understanding of welding processes and inspection methods.
• Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accurate documentation.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of welds to verify quality and code compliance.
• Verify weld preparation, joint fit-up, alignment, and weld size.
• Ensure welding activities comply with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Inspect pipe spools against isometric drawings for dimensions and fit-up.
• Verify incoming materials for correct specifications, heat numbers, and certifications.
• Maintain material traceability throughout fabrication.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, UT, PT).
• Review, document, and track NDT results.
• Maintain inspection records, weld logs, and quality documentation.
• Prepare, issue, and track NCRs.
• Compile and maintain final QA/QC turnover packages for client delivery.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and client standards.
• Support shop safety policies and procedures.
