Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is recruiting a fabrication and maintenance tech for the new facility in Missouri. The role requires basic maintenance knowledge across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and advanced welding, with ability to work alone or in teams and comply with GMP and safety rules.

Responsibilities include implementing projects, maintaining equipment, and supporting various production areas while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • 3–5 years fabricating with metal (black / stainless steel).
  • 5+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, write daily reports, and interpret equipment manuals.
  • English reading/writing ability with minimal supervision.
  • Overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Implement mechanical and engineering projects.
  • Ensure all daily tasks and paperwork are completed.
  • Keep shop equipment and tools in good mechanical order.
  • Assist maintenance teams on fab / harvest / rendering as needed.
  • Follow GMPs and safety practices.
  • Set up machinery, inspect, test, and tear down machinery.
  • Identify abnormal machine sounds and diagnose issues with supervisors.
  • Dismantle defective equipment and install parts.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery components.
  • Maintain the physical structures of the establishment.
  • Other related duties as needed.

Overview

Job Summary

The fab projects maintenance tech must have basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and advanced Welding (TIG, STICK). Leads must be able to work either as a team or individually. Must comply with all company safety rules, lockout tagout (loto) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement mechanical and engineering projects
  • Ensure all assigned daily tasks and paperwork are completed
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in good mechanical order
  • Aid other teams (assist maintenance teams on fab / harvest / rendering as needed)
  • Always follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety Practices
  • Setup machinery, visually inspect, test machinery and tear down machinery
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machine
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Repairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishment

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Previous experience fabricating with metal (black / stainless steel) 3-5 years
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 5 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT)
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or school (Preferred)
  • Slaughter meat industry experience preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
