Job summary

ManpowerGroup is recruiting for a precision metal fabrication company in Watertown, SD to hire a CNC Laser Operator / Machine Operator. The role requires setting up and operating CNC laser equipment to cut sheet and plate steel per blueprints and work orders.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, perform first-piece and in-process inspections, and maintain strict quality and safety standards. Shift is 2nd (3 pm–1 am, M-F) with weekend hours; pay starts at $19/hr DOE.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, and production documentation accurately.
• Basic math, computer, and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of CNC machining processes, steel materials, and quality standards (SPC preferred).
• Experience operating manufacturing equipment (laser, CNC, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser equipment to cut sheet and plate steel according to blueprints and work orders.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring tools.
• Load programs, stage materials, and make machine adjustments to maintain tolerance and quality standards.
• Complete routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning, fluid checks, and consumable changes.
• Move, tag, and stage finished material while completing required production and quality documentation.
