Job summary

Alaskan Copper Works in Seattle, WA is hiring a Fabrication Metalworker (Fitter) to lay out, fit, and assemble tanks, heat exchangers and piping from blueprints. Day shift, competitive hourly pay, union-driven environment.

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and are expected to adhere to company rules. Responsibilities include directing welders and helpers, hydrotesting when needed, and reading specifications to ensure precise fabrication.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience pipe and plate fitting, preferably with stainless steel.
  • Must read blueprints and specifications.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 100 lbs. rarely.
  • Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Desirable experience operating shop equipment like shear, press brake, drills and grinders.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and prepare components for tanks, heat exchanger assembly and pipe spooling.
  • Work off blueprints; fit up tanks, heat exchangers and pipe spooling.
  • Direct activities of Welders, Assistant Fabrication Metalworkers and Helpers.
  • When specified, hydrotest.

Job Title: Fabrication Metalworker (Fitter)
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 hourly (DOE)
Hours of Work: Day shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm
Location: 3405 6th Avenue South, Seattle, WA. 98134
Representation: After 30 days, required to become a dues paying or financial core member of Sheetmetal Workers Local Union No. 66.
Job Summary: Fit and assemble tanks, pipes, and heat exchangers.
Requirements To Be Considered For Position:
  • 1. Application must be filled out completely by the Applicant.
  • 2. Meet all of the Required Essential Job Skills/Experience.
  • 3. Must be able to work any shift.
  • 4. Work overtime when required.
  • 5. Willing to comply with company rules and policies.
  • 6. Pass pre-employment drug screen.
Required Essential Job Skills/Experience:
  • 1. At least 3 years of experience pipe and plate fitting, preferably with stainless steel.
  • 2. Must be able to read blueprints and specifications.
  • 3. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and up to 100 lbs. rarely.
  • 4. Accurately read tape measure to 1/16”.
  • 5. Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.

  • Ability to operate shear, press brake, drills, and grinders.
