Job summary

McCarty Equipment Co., Ltd. in Abilene, TX is seeking a shop assistant to help in gasket, hose, mechanical seal, cylinder repair and conveyor belting areas. You will measure, cut, fabricate gaskets, and assist on the shop floor under close supervision.

Responsibilities include inventory counts, lean activities, and continuous improvement projects for lean, quality and safety. Forklift operation may be required after certification.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1 year industrial shop experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must be able to use a tape measure and understand basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

Responsibilities

• Assist in any area of the shop to include gasket, hose, mechanical seal, cylinder repair and/or conveyor belting departments.
• Uses various tools to measure, manipulate and cut gaskets and fabricate hoses and other related products.
• Assist in general shop duties under close supervision.
• Participate in counting inventory for cycle counts and maintain stock, clean equipment and shop areas.
• Operate forklift upon certification.
