Job summary

A leading company in precision manufacturing is seeking entry-level fabrication assistants to help in various shop tasks. This role involves learning to use hand and power tools, assisting in fabrication processes, and maintaining a clean work environment. No prior experience is necessary; a high school diploma or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will have basic fabrication knowledge and be eager to learn in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to metals shop classes or similar training preferred.
  • Ability to read both imperial and metric measuring tape required.

Job description

  • Learn to read and understand plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Follow established shop safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Load, transport, unload, and furnish Fabrication Coordinator with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary; assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during fabrication.
  • Learn to use appropriate hand and power tools to assist other fab shop employees to properly measure, cut, bend, fit, clean, prep, and machine and help to install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform other routine duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Possess basic fabrication and metals working knowledge.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools (grinders, sanders, drills, etc.) and must be able to read both imperial and metric measuring tape.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with other team members and company employees.
  • Prior exposure to high school metals shop classes or similar vocational training preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing these job duties, employees are routinely required to stand, walk, lift, climb, crawl, and sit. To use their hands and fingers to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to type or write. Employees are also required to be able to see, talk, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • This position is performed in a shop environment with some local travel between facilities and project locations.
