Job summary

GERMFREE LABORATORIES INC. is seeking a Mechanical Technician (Fabrication & Mechanical Systems) for our Ormond Beach operations.

This hands‑on role blends shop fabrication with field installation, requiring welds, cuts, ductwork, and alignment to project drawings and site conditions. You will read blueprints, fabricate components, and coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure safe, high‑quality installations in a climate‑controlled manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction, fabrication, or mechanical installation.
• Proven experience with welding and metal fabrication.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify, and install custom components based on project drawings and field conditions.
• Cut, shape, and assemble materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Install ductwork systems, including layout, hanging, sealing, and insulating.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct field measurements and adjust fabrication to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure efficient installation.
• Troubleshoot installation challenges and implement practical solutions in the field.
• Maintain quality control standards to ensure all installations meet design and code requirements.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation.
• Document work progress, modifications, and any deviations from design.
