Job summary

John W. McDougall Co., Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Fabrication Technician to join our production team.

You will assemble and prepare panels according to job specifications while ensuring quality standards are met, with emphasis on precision and craftsmanship. Ideal candidates have fabrication or related experience, can read technical prints, and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fabrication, assembly, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret job prints and technical sketches.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Familiarity with fabrication tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review job prints for special instructions and update clock-in number accordingly.
  • Inspect tools for accuracy and proper functionality, testing on scrap material if necessary.
  • Measure panels to ensure they meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform a visual inspection of panels for dents, scratches, or defects before starting fabrication.
  • Verify panel grain direction, if applicable.
  • Confirm the correct type and color of screws by referencing the job sketch.
  • Retrieve necessary extrusions for the fabrication process.
  • Install corner clips and apply caulking if required.
  • Install extrusions and caulk stiffeners as needed.
  • Conduct a final review to ensure all components match the job sketch.
  • Set completed panels aside for Quality Control (QC) inspection and labeling.

About The Role
