Job summary

Street Factory Media is seeking a skilled Fabrication Engineer to design and prototype parts, components, and custom products using welding, machining, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing.

The role requires hands-on execution, strong materials knowledge, and the ability to translate ideas into detailed drawings, specifications, and BOMs, with collaboration across creative and project management teams.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of fabrication design experience.
  • Proven experience in fabrication, product development or prototyping.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino).
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding, machining, CNC milling, carpentry, 3D printing, and generic print production.

Responsibilities

  • DESIGN DEVELOPMENT: Collaborate with engineering, product development, and design teams to conceptualize, develop, and refine designs for fabrication. Translate conceptual ideas into detailed design drawings and specifications.
  • FABRICATION TECHNIQUES: Utilize welding, machining, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing to produce prototypes, parts, and assemblies.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE: Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure components meet specifications and standards.
  • Technical Documentation: Create assembly instructions, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and material specs.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate objectives, timelines and budgets.

Job description

We are seeking a talented Fabrication Engineer to join our team. The Fabrication Engineer will be responsible for creating and designing prototypes, components, and custom products using various fabrication techniques. This role requires a combination of creativity, technical proficiency, and hands‑on skills to bring concepts to life through fabrication processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and design principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • DESIGN DEVELOPMENT:Collaborate with engineering, product development, and design teams to conceptualize, develop, and refine designs for fabrication. Translate conceptual ideas into detailed design drawings and specifications.
  • FABRICATION TECHNIQUES:Utilize a variety of fabrication techniques such as welding, machining, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing to produce prototypes, parts, and assemblies. Select appropriate materials and processes based on design requirements.
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE:Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure fabricated components meet design specifications and industry standards. Document and report any deviations or issues encountered during the fabrication process.
  • Technical Documentation:Create comprehensive technical documentation including assembly instructions, fabrication drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and material specifications. Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation for seamless production execution.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams including creative, project managers, and fabrication team to coordinate project objectives, timelines and budgets.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience of fabrication design or related field
  • Proven experience within fabrication, product development or prototyping
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software (e.g., Solidworks, AutoCad, Rhino, etc)
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques including, welding, machining, CNC milling, carpentry, 3D printing, and generic print production
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
