We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabrication & Dimensional Metrology Technician to support the fabrication of coaster track and other complex welded assemblies. The successful candidate will combine hands-on fabrication ability with strong computer skills and an aptitude for precision measurement and 3D software.

What Youll Do

This hands-on role combines skilled metal fabrication with advanced dimensional measurement. You will fit, tack, weld, lay out, position, and verify coaster track and other complex welded assemblies using a Leica AT403 laser tracker, SpatialAnalyzer software, engineering drawings, and 3D models. You will work closely with Fabrication, Engineering, and Quality to turn digital designs into accurately built physical assemblies.

  • Perform fitting, tacking, welding, layout, and fabrication work on coaster track and other complex welded assemblies.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, dimensional requirements, and 3D models.
  • Operate a Leica AT403 laser tracker and related precision-measurement equipment.
  • Use SpatialAnalyzer to import STEP files, establish coordinate systems and reference points, and support assembly setup and inspection.
  • Use digital models and live measurement data to position, align, and verify components during fit-up and assembly.
  • Compare actual measurements with engineering models, identify deviations, and communicate discrepancies to Fabrication, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Document measurement results and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Help determine whether dimensional issues can be corrected through fabrication or require engineering review.
  • Protect, check, and maintain laser-tracking equipment, computers, targets, and accessories; coordinate calibration requirements.
  • Develop repeatable measurement setups and work processes and help train other employees on basic equipment and software operation.
  • Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and documentation requirements.
What Youll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in metal fabrication, fitting, tacking, welding, layout, or closely related manufacturing work.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and understand dimensional requirements.
  • Strong computer aptitude and willingness to learn specialized metrology software.
  • Ability to visualize 3D geometry and translate digital models into physical assemblies.
  • Skill with standard fabrication and precision-measurement tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with Fabrication, Engineering, and Quality.
Preferred Skills
  • Technical education in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, CAD, or metrology.
  • Experience with large or complex welded assemblies, coaster track, structural fabrication, or precision weldments.
  • Experience with a laser tracker or portable coordinate-measurement system.
  • Experience with Leica equipment, SpatialAnalyzer, or comparable metrology software.
  • Experience importing and working with STEP files or other 3D CAD models.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Work indoors in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Work safely around fabricated assemblies, welding operations, cranes, and material-handling equipment.
