Job summary

Forgent Power in Maryland is seeking a Fabrication & Manufacturing Engineer who will serve as the critical link between design engineering and the fabrication shop floor. This role audits drawings and CAD models for DFM before production, and manages precise CNC files for efficient schedule flow.

The incumbent will supervise floor workflows, optimize machine scheduling, and drive continuous improvements to ensure switchgear projects move on time and under budget while maintaining quality and

Qualifications

• DFM audits of 3D models and 2D layouts to ensure fabricability.
• CNC programming and nesting to maximize material utilization.
• Revision & version control of engineering files on CNC controllers.
• Tooling calculations (K-factors and bend deductions) for accurate folds.
• GD&T proficiency and blueprint literacy for complex assemblies.

Responsibilities

• DFM audits and CAD reviews to ensure manufacturability before fabrication.
• CNC programming and nesting to optimize sheet and copper usage.
• Revision control to ensure current engineering files are used on machines.
• Daily floor scheduling and supervision to meet master production plan.
• First-piece setup inspections to green-light batches.
• Live floor troubleshooting to minimize downtime during bends.
• Jig/fixture design to accelerate downstream assembly.
• Write clear SOPs for machine setup and standard work.
