Shiel Sexton Company, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN seeks a reliable Fabrication Assistant to support aluminum storefront and glass wall fabrication. You will move materials, measure, cut, operate basic tools, and keep the shop organized while learning the trade.

You'll assist senior fabricators, handle packaging for delivery, and help maintain a safe, efficient workspace in a hands-on entry-level role.

Qualifications

• No exact experience required; construction, warehousing or manufacturing background is a plus.
• Must know how to read a standard tape measure accurately down to the fraction.
• Comfort using basic hand tools, power drills, and saws.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Reliable, on time, and willing to listen and learn from senior team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist team in assembling aluminum frames, doors, and glass systems.
• Use tape measures and basic tools to mark and prepare metal for cutting.
• Clean and deburr metal after cutting to ensure smooth edges.
• Install rubber gaskets, weather stripping, and basic hardware.
• Load and unload trucks bringing in raw aluminum, glass, and hardware.
• Organize metal racks and move heavy materials safely around the shop floor.
• Wrap and pack finished products to prevent damage during delivery.
• Follow safety rules including wearing safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and ear protection.
