Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Fabric Engineer on behalf of one of the UK’s leading building services companies.

Established over 40 years ago, their head office is based in London, with several other offices across the UK. They are known for their services in M&E, FM, Design, and Construction.

The company employs hundreds of staff and works across various sectors including commercial, residential, health, and transport.

This role involves working on a hard FM contract providing service and maintenance at train stations along the East Coast from Edinburgh to Kings Cross.

Their responsibilities include maintaining electrical, plumbing, and building fabric systems.

This is a permanent position offering a salary of £30k – £32k per annum plus Van & Fuel Card, Overtime, On-call allowance, Pension, and 21 days of annual leave plus bank holidays. Ongoing training, including PTS (Personal Track Side Safety Sentinel card), is provided.

As a Fabric Engineer, you should have experience in a similar role, be qualified in relevant trades, and capable of delivering high-quality maintenance and reactive repairs across multiple disciplines. You will be part of a small works team covering Grantham, Newark, and Retford Stations, mostly working from home with rare overnight stays.

Responsibilities

1. Complete all reactive works and PPMs within the contract's SLA and KPI targets.
2. Keep clients, customers, and the team informed through regular updates and feedback.
3. Contribute to delivering a high-quality service aiming for 100% customer satisfaction.
4. Communicate daily with helpdesk or supervisor regarding the status of tasks.
5. Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policies.

Skills & Attributes

• Time-served fabric engineer with a maintenance background.
• Experience in mobile engineering or property maintenance.
• Qualified in trades such as carpentry, plastering, decorating, or similar.
• Strong competencies in building services trades.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety standards.
• Proficient in computer use and data management, including Microsoft Office.
