Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Ensure all work referenced below is completed at an acceptable productivity level for the employee's classification and experience level. Productivity performance will be based on historical time studies of similar work.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Responsible for performing welding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely with supervision and QA/QC, adhering to precise standards of accuracy.

• Proficient in arc gouging
• Capable of welding qualified processes independently
• Must have mathematical skills
• Knowledgeable in understanding and utilizing various blueprint drawings
• Perform or assist in departmental fit-up activities as directed by Leadman or Shop Foreman
• Ability to utilize and interpret measuring devices and weld symbols (e.g., tape measure, protractor)
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information, such as codes (ASME, API-650, API-620)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Prior related experience and/or training in a fabrication environment.

Must be certified in at least 3 of the following processes; at minimum, GMAW / FCAW 6G certification is required.

• GMAW/FCAW - 6G
• GTAW - Positions - 2G, 5G, or 6G
• SMAW - Positions - 2G, 3G, or 6G
• SAW - Position - 1G (Flat)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing to work frequent overtime
• Effective reading, writing, and communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, aerial work platforms, etc.
• Capability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in hot and cold environments
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping; occasional climbing
• Standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day
• This position is safety-sensitive
• Completion of safety management training, site-specific training, and participation in the DISA drug testing program
