Fab IT Manager / Factory Automation Leader (300mm Wafer Fab)
Base Compensation: $240,000 - $310,000
About the Role
The Fab IT Manager is more than an IT operations leader—they are the technology leader for the factory, responsible for making Smart Manufacturing a competitive advantage. By combining deep semiconductor manufacturing knowledge with modern automation, robotics, AI, and digital technologies, this leader enables the 300mm wafer fabrication facility to become increasingly autonomous, resilient, and productive.
Serving as the primary face of the Smart Manufacturing organization at the site and the trusted partner to the Fab Manager and factory leadership, you will serve as the single point of accountability for delivering measurable business outcomes through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Factory Business Partnership: Understand factory priorities and translate business needs into clear technology roadmaps and execution plans to drive measurable improvements in factory capacity, equipment productivity, cycle time, yield/quality, manufacturing cost, and factory availability.
- Site Smart Manufacturing Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing cross-functional team of ~15 manufacturing IT engineers and domain experts supporting the fab, building a culture focused on customer partnership, ownership, and operational discipline.
- Manufacturing Systems & Automation: Own the delivery and operational excellence of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), tool integration/connectivity, equipment automation (SECS/GEM, EDA, OPC-UA), equipment scheduling interfaces, manufacturing data collection, and factory dashboards.
- AMHS & Robotics Orchestration: Provide site leadership for Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) orchestration, material movement optimization, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), fleet coordination, and emerging robotics solutions.
- Factory Reliability & Availability: Own the operational health of manufacturing IT systems, leading incident response, root cause analysis, monitoring, and disaster recovery readiness to minimize downtime for production-critical systems.
- Digital Transformation & Change Management: Champion adoption of new Smart Manufacturing capabilities across the fab, replacing manual work with automation and AI-enabled solutions.
Required Qualifications & Leadership Competencies
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, manufacturing IT, automation, or smart manufacturing.
- Leadership: 5+ years leading engineering or manufacturing IT organizations, ideally bringing a strong background in managing technical teams while making strategic business decisions.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of high-volume 300mm semiconductor operations, MES, SECS/GEM, AMHS, and factory systems.
- Competencies: Proven business partnership, strategic leadership, operational excellence, customer focus, and execution discipline.
